SRA Srintcars and Street Stocks featured on the January 3 program for what was a special ‘Green Night’ for the Gillin Boys Foundation.

Texan race driver Chase Randall thrilled audiences to win the $5000 prize money.

First time visitor and Avalon speedweek winner Ryan Jones showed some aggressive moves into turns three and four to run second, followed by Lachlan McHugh third.

The supporting Street Stocks once again put on some great racing, with Shane Roycroft winning the main event, closely followed by David Barrie and Miller Throckmorton.

The cars and crowds returned to the track the following night, January 4, for the PSW Speedcar Series and the Wingless Summer Slam.

The main event was again a ‘cracker’ with third-generation racer Caleb Mills taking the chequered flag ahead of Nick Parker, with Jack McCarthy rounding out the top three.

In the Wingless Sprint Summer Slam round, Luke Weel led the pack across the finish line, with Blaine Densley who held onto second by .3 of a second from a fast-finishing Tim Van Ginneken.

Travis Millar, Tyson Martin, Brad McCarthy, Ryan Furler, Kirby Hillyer, Matthew Symons and Brad Vaughan rounded out the top 10.

Action returns to Simpson Speedway on January 18 for the $10,000 to win 360/LS Sprintcar event – the traditional kick-off to Classic week.
