Works: Two bridges along the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail will be replaced next month, with the section expected to be closed for up to eight weeks.

Bridge 14 and 15 – which are the two closest to the Trestle Bridge – will undergo works from late August.

Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail Committee chairman Pat Robertson is pleased the works will soon begin.

“The section will be closed until about October which is dependant on the weather,” she said.

“We are looking forward to it. It will be great to have them done.”

The works on bridges 14 and 15 is costing more than $500,000, representing a significant investment in the trail.

Mrs Robertson said funds for the two bridges is thanks to the Regional Development Victoria, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).

“We are grateful to be in the position to be able to do them,” she said.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience, but the bridges desperately need to be done.”

While the works are occurring the rail trail will be closed between Merretts Road, Glenfyne and the bridges.

Trail users are able to make use of the trail from the Trestle Bridge side up until the bridges.

Bridge 13 also needs to be replaced, with the committee working to raise funds to see the project completed.

Once a works start date has been confirmed, residents will be notified.
