Fine sailing conditions greeted members for their first pennant race of the year on Sunday, followed by the Allan Noone Memorial (La Mans) race.

Race one line honours went to ‘Crisis 2’ skippered by Ian Lane.

The group then enjoyed a great lunch before heading back to the water for a beach-start.

This year saw Craig Wood, on his yacht ‘Spider,’ take home the Allan Noone Memorial, which was presented to him by Allan’s young daughter Molly, alongside club commodore, Phil Noone.

The club will return to Deep Lake this Sunday for pennant racing.

Members are also set to attend the Stawell sail regatta on November 2 and 3.

The club was recently successful in gaining funding through the Vic Sport grants and was able to purchase new life jackets for use by both visitors and members.

Anyone wishing to learn more about sailing can contact the club or its members.

The learn-to-sail program will start next week and will run throughout the season.

Sessions will be held at the Derrinallum club each Sunday morning. All welcome.
