Enterprise Court is unveiled
THE Camperdown Production Precinct’s new addition, Enterprise Court, was opened last Thursday morning, with stakeholders enjoying an opportunity to investigate the site and speak with those involved in its construction.
Advanced Nutrition Services chief executive officer Thomas Lashan and Australaisan Solutions’ John Lyons spent the morning speaking with stakeholders about the estate, which began development last June.
Mr Lashan said he was pleased with the new Enterprise Court.
“We’re pretty happy with the finished product, and you can see the interest in it – when you see all the support that we’ve had and all the people who rocked up, you can see what it means to a lot of people in town as well,” he said.
“The opening concept was really John’s idea of bringing all of the potential stakeholders to come down and speak to us about what they might have as a business and how we could help them set up in this Enterprise Court – really be instigators or pioneers in trying to grow the town again.
“Having a day like this is almost like a concentrated effort to speak to everyone and give them the support they need if they have business ideas to come into this court.”
Attendees spent the morning speaking with Mr Lashan and Mr Lyons about the estate and their options while enjoying a cup of coffee.
Notable attendees included Corangamite Shire Council mayor Kate Makin, councillor Ruth Gstrein, Cr Geraldine Conheady, deputy mayor Laurie Hickey and Federal Member for Wannon Dan Tehan.
Mr Lyons said it was “comforting and encouraging” to see the support the open day had.
“It’s very encouraging because we’ve always had the underlying support of the council right from the get-go – to see so many of the councillors and the mayor and deputy mayor come along and really show their support is really encouraging to us,” he said.
“The estate was originally created to facilitate Tom Lashan and his Advanced Nutrition services to establish their aseptic manufacturing plant here, which is a health and wellness based on dairy.
“We’re also hoping that would be the catalyst for others to join - we have SunPower Pacific, which is an American company, now set up an Australian enterprise and they’re keen to set up a solar manufacturing plant here on the site, which would be a $50 million investment into our estate.
“Those two key industries are a basis for other industries to join into the estate.”
Mr Lyons said he hoped the open day would encourage others to purchase land to build their enterprises.
“We’ve got land available that can be purchased by others who would see the advantage of being involved in something that’s quite large,” he said.
“We’re hoping that this is going to be a key driver of growth in Camperdown from the point of view of employment and therefore supporting local businesses by bringing lots of new people into the area, plus also create the opportunity of the local TAFE facilities to offer training to the people that are going to be needed to run their enterprises.”
