Golfing fails kickstart appeal
CAMPERDOWN’S Good Friday Appeal has gotten off to a strong start thanks to the mishaps of golfers on the green.

Camperdown Golf Club has donated $1900 to the appeal, which club captain Rick Carr said came from something which provided banter in the clubrooms.
“Every week, we give fines out for misdemeanours on the golf course – everything from out of bounds, three putts, and a new one called shockers where you hit a bad shot and it actually turns out to be a good shot,” he said.
“Another one is if a husband and wife duo play and if the wife beats the husband, that’s big money.
“It’s just little things like that.
“We can jokingly say it was mainly paid by right-handers, since the Camperdown Golf Course suits left-handers.”
Appeal coordinator Kellie Kempton said she was “rapt” with the donation.
“This starts off our appeal – the golf club is our first donation,” she said.
“$1900 is fantastic.
“Hopefully we surpass last year’s total.”
Mr Carr said the Camperdown Golf Club was proud to be able to support the Good Friday Appeal.
“We all know about the Royal Children’s Hospital, and all the wonderful work they do,” he said.
“We’re happy to contribute the money – but a lot of us know someone who’s been there but we just hope it never happens to someone we know.
“It’s always good to just give them a little extra help on a special day.”
