Club president Matthew Hanks was thrilled by the attendance of approximately 70 ladies on the day.

“It was a great night and we all had a good time,” he said.

“It’s a celebration of what all the ladies do for cricket, just to thank them.

“We have the women’s side, but they’re running the kids to cricket and supporting the men’s side as well – it’s to appreciate all they do.”

Matthew and Taylor Boyle came up with the idea to start the event in 2021 as a way to celebrate the women in the Cobden community.

“Originally, it was a free event just for the women in the community to come along to, we thought it was a good idea,” Mr Boyle said.

“It had such a great reception and so many people came along to thank all the women in the community.

“Then we got the idea to sponsor a trophy to create more of a contest out on the field and now we have a woman each year pick the best on ground and present the trophy.”

Matthew and Taylor Boyle organised the event alongside Kirsty Wickham and Johno Benallack.

“This year we had more of a social committee put together that was able to help us out,” Mr Boyle said.

Cobden Knights senior women bowled out Ecklin Frogettes for 28 runs, while Cobden Knights scored 128 runs of their own off five wickets.
