Support appreciated: Cobden Junior Football Netball Club donated more than $900 to Cobdenhealth thanks to a raffle held over the weekend.

Proceeds from the raffle held at the game against Warrnambool saw $925 donated to Cobdenhealth’s Lifestyle and Leisure Program.

Junior club president Chris Walsh said the club was pleased to be able to support Cobdenhealth.

“We decided to donate some funds to a good cause and so the residents can continue their activities and excursions,” he said.

“A lot of the residents have followed Cobden their whole life.

“The Cobden Football Netball Club look for ways to get involved in the community anyway we can and support any organisation.”

Mr Walsh said Cobdenhealth staff were “more than happy” with the donation.

“It’s a big employer of the town and we need a place like this so people can stay in their town as they get older,” he said.

Cobdenhealth accountant Brooke Walsh thanked the club for its support.

“The money will be going towards the activities program,” she said.

“Thank you to the club for having some initiative and their generosity and recognising that community spirit benefits the club and community.

“It’s a really lovely thing to do.”

Mrs Walsh said Cobdenhealth was a not-for-profit aged care service, with contributions like this making a difference.

“These are all the extra things that foster a stimulating experience for our residents,” she said.
