Tough run for Magpies

WITH six rounds of the Hampden League home and away season remaining, Camperdown’s Open netballers sit just two games out of the top five.

The Magpies, with six wins under their belts to date, will be looking to close the gap when they meet the fifth-placed Warrnambool Blues tomorrow (Saturday).

The Magpies showed strength all over the court last weekend during their match against Koroit at Victoria Park.

Going into the half-time break, the Magpies were within two goals of the Saints, however a strong third quarter by the home side saw the gap widen to 15 goals by three-quarter time.

Final scores were Koroit 54 to Camperdown 33.

Best for the Magpies were Lily Eldridge, Matilda Pollard and Sophie Conheady.

Other results on the netball courts last weekend were:

Division one – Koroit defeated Camperdown 78-14. Best: Lily Baker, Macy Mahony and Isla Fleming.

Division two – Koroit defeated Camperdown 35-24. Best: Nell Blake, Hope Kerr and Kaitlyn Fowler.

Division three – Koroit defeated Camperdown 39-37. Best: Tanisha Keely Dooley, Gemma Mahony and Emma Spence.

17 and under – Koroit defeated Camperdown 49-41. Best: Isobel Sinnott and Indiana Cameron.

17 and under reserves – Koroit defeated Camperdown 33-12. Best: Poppy Kerr, Ella McDonald and Amarli Lawlor.

15 and under –Koroit defeated Camperdown 36-17. Best: Charlotte Hinds, Shelby Mahony and Kiara Love.

15 and under reserves – Koroit defeated Camperdown 34-11. Best: Kayla Loving, Keira Johnston and Meg Lafferty.

13 and under – Koroit defeated Camperdown 38-20. Best: Chloe Castle, Olive Wills and Abigail Sinnott.

13 and under reserves – Camperdown defeated Koroit 17-15. Best: Bonnie Van Den Berghe, Daisy Courtney and Meg Nolan.

Round 13 Hampden League action this weekend will see Camperdown at home to Warrnambool.

In other games, Terang Mortlake will face North Warrnambool, Koroit will be home to South Warrnambool, Cobden will host Port Fairy and Hamilton will meet Portland at Dunkeld.
